Catch up time!

Alright folks that still read this thing! Welcome to my blog!
Hello, hello, hello....

It seems that blogs are slowly a dying breed and most people would look here only after I'd posted a link on my FB wall. So I sucked it up and created myself a FB (er.. facebook for those who have been asleep for the last 8 years) page. Here's the link:
And I must say that I kinda like having them on FB. It's nice to have them all in albums where you can easily scroll through them and see the progression. The funny thing is that as I was going through and numbering each one, I've come up with a different number than I have on here! According to this blog, I'm at 58 with Ben; according to the FB page, I'm at 59. I like that! Not sure where or how I've missed one, but... eh, 59 it is! Hooray for multiplying, random appearing dolls!

Continuing on... I've been slack and not updating here, even though I HAVE been sewing.

DISCO BUNNY!!!!
#60
He's got some mad-style with his shiny purple bottoms matching his toes, to his symbol of pride on his back. Anyone wanna dance? Let's bust a move.

Next up we have:
Bhupy
#61
Remember that contest I had many many months ago where I drew a number and that person got a doll. Well.... better late than never?

And to finish it off today folks, we have:
Mo & Ma
#62 & #63
Commissioned dolls for a lady who came to my house when I wasn't home (she's friends of my roommates, I just read that back to myself and it sounded sketchy) and fell in love with my dolls. They are Day of the Dead inspired. A good way to start off this month! (I hope she doesn't see this post before they are given to her...)

Till next time!

i was overwhelmed at times by all of the loving support. it was a grand event! i couldn't be happier!
a third of the dolls sold already, there was laughter, sharing, playing and cheer.(pictures to come)

and there's nothing like a show to motivate one to sew more......

Lola (a puppy for my roommate) #49

My roommate views the dolls I make as puppies. And just like puppies she has a similar emotional response, excitement, joy but also this underlaying knowledge that one day the puppies will have to go to their new home. In a way she gets all the dolls, as they slowly pile up on our couch.... but there's that realization that they won't be here forever. So, I made her a puppy of her own, one that she can fully bond with, having the security that it won't leave.
I wish that I had recorded her reaction when presented with Lola! "I love her", "So cute" and "precious" were the only things she uttered for several minutes! (this is why I make them. These exclamations of pleasure are a huge motivating factor)

Lola.... the doll that will forever be hers:

A gift of "meep"

meep is a thank you gift to a dear friend who took some beautiful photos of me in an abandoned house we found in east van........ the extraordinarily talented diane smithers!!! THANK YOU. you can check out her work here .

i was so pleased with meep's legs and general colourful cheer, that he inspired me to create the next doll in a similar fashion.
